The great aim of education is not knowledge, but action- Herbert Spencer, Philosopher
Pursuing a process of learning can be rewarding and fulfilling in and of itself. This is because Man is designed for growth and learning helps you achieve growth as desired.
Yet to maximize that learning process, there must be a strategy.
A strategy targeted at a specific outcome.
Such strategy is focused and with intentionality.
While you can read all the best selling books, take masterclasses, sign up for another certification or pursue another academic degree, you must ask yourself this question- To what end/ purpose is this learning journey?
In today’s newsletter, I will be exploring two learning strategies to help maximize your learning pursuit.
First learning strategy is the Problem Solving Learning Strategy
Using this strategy, you are focused on using learning as a tool to solve a problem.
The OBJECTIVE is to solve a PROBLEM you are currently facing or one you envisiage you will face. This is about using knowledge to create solutions to your problem.
For instance, as CEO or Head, People in an organization, you notice a high attrition rate leading to continuous hiring and depletion of company resources on retraining with no long term value to the organization.
By using this strategy, you can embark on a learning journey to understand people management, organization development, employee engagement and other related topics that can help reduce the high attrition rate.
You go on a knowledge quest for the solution to the attrition problem.
Problem Solving Learning helps you test ideas and learning insight quicker and faster on a project.
This leads to visible change, results and progress.
With this strategy, your iterations are faster and results can be objectively evaluated to determine if learning was of positive, negative or neutral value.
Second learning strategy is the Future/Goal Creation Learning
This is a learning strategy of using learning to close the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
What goals have you set? What information or knowledge must you acquire to achieve the goal?
Going Vegan?
Starting Pilates?
Launching an App?? Starting an NGO???
Just any goal, learning , discipline and execution will get you there.
“Learn as if you were not reaching your goal and as though you were scared of missing it.” — Confucius, Philosopher and Politician.
DISCIPLINE cuts across both learning strategy-the staying power to learn and the pursuit to execution.
These learning strategies can work for different situations and your needs per time. It helps you take your learning pursuit purposefully and have tangible results beyond learning for learning’s sake.
I want your learning to be productive and fully maximized.
To live is to learn
To be is to learn
To grow is to learn.
I would like you to comment below or reply to the email on which of these strategies speaks to you, which you have tried or which you will be trying. I love to read from you.
